TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR COUNSELLING/PSYCHOTHERAPY
All our counsellors are members of the British Association of Counselling & Psychchotherapy (BACP) and abide by the BACP's ethical framework for good practice.
Karen, has many years experience working with charities supporting people living with the more debilitating mental health issues such as schizophrenia and bipolar. She also has nearly ten years experience in supporting/providing emotional support to parents/carers of children who have special needs. And for a number of years worked as a counsellor for a local GP surgery. Karen now splits her time between working for Finding You, running training courses and tutoring an AQA counselling course.
Confidentiality
Anything said by a client in the counselling room remains within the counselling room. The rare exception to this is where it is thought you are a danger to yourself or others. In such circumstances the counsellor will always endeavor to discuss this with you first.
Supervision
The counsellor has regular supervision to ensure that her quality of practice is at the highest level possible and that she is at all times working in your best interest.
Practical Matters
The first counselling/psychotherapy session lasts 30 minutes and is Free Of Charge. This session allows the counsellor and the client to make an assessment on whether this type of therapy will suit you. We will discuss how many sessions you require and will review this accordingly throughout the counselling process. Each session thereafter lasts 50 minutes and costs £40 per session. Please be advised that we do not have a waiting room. Please arrive at your appointed time. We require payment for each session a week in advance by cheque, or cash please, this secures your appointment for the following week. If for any reason you need to cancel your appointment please do so 24 hours before hand otherwise you will be charged for the session missed (We will be able to accept credit card payments soon) You will be given notice of breaks in therapy and if the counsellor needs to cancel a session for reason of illness.
